Hi All,

I was wondering if some one can help me with a LightBurn issue I have.

I'm cutting out some small ribs and end plates for and indoor rubber powered model for the school club I run.

The issue is that the ends of the ribs (cross grain) are either get burnt at a higher laser persentage or don't cut through if I reduce the laser percentage.

I have also tried increasing the speed but the same result.

Is there a setting in LightBurn that will enable me to get the ends cut as well at the top and bottem of the ribs.

I'm using 1/6th medium balsa.

Picture Rib1 it the top Rib 2 the underside.

Thanks

Stuart

What type of laser cutter are you using?

Hi Barrie

Ita an atomstack A5

I have used it for cutting bigger items chuck glider wings and fuz's no problem.

But this is the first with such small cuts.

This is a model that is all cut out with my atomstack

I don't know anything about the Atomstack, what I would say though is that it looks like the machine is going slower at the end of the ribs and on the cross grain section as the burn away kerf looks wider there.

Also the motion looks jumpy as the cut is going around the fin.

My hunch is that this is a motion problem but I maybe wrong.

Hi Barrie,

Ok Thanks.

I know the laser beam on my cutter is an oblong shape so X cut is thicker than the Y cut.

I'll just get the students to cut the ends with the scalple knives we have.
